'Call of Duty: WW2' Coop Mode, Story Details, Release Date Revealed

Call Of Duty Is Returning To Its PlayStation 1 Roots With Its Next Game

It will be available on PC, Xbox One, and PS4.

The trailer above shows off an expectedly by-the-numbers, melodramatic WWII campaign that at least benefits from the last 10 years of graphical improvement.

The story will be about brotherhood, following the 1st Infantry Division as they struggle between skirmishes. While the bulk of the game will focus on the years 1944-1945, it'll touch upon the years 1940-1944, a time when Allied forces were gathering strength against Germany.

More details on the multiplayer mode are expected to be announced at the Electronic Entertainment Expo, better known as E3, in Los Angeles in June. In addition to the game's boots-on-the-ground combat, Multiplayer offers a host of new modes, new maps, and an all-new Nazi Zombies Cooperative mode.

During the Call of Duty: WW2 reveal event, Sledgehammer Games further stated that its game would feature playable characters of different races too.

Call of Duty: WWII is replacing the superhero-like abilities of the recent Call of Duty games with an experience grounded on humanity and what that means when in war.

CoD: WWII's singleplayer campaign meanwhile puts players in the boots of the storied U.S. 1st Infantry Division (The Big Red One) as they breach Axis defenses and survive deadly counterattacks across Europe, though Activision stresses the campaign is also set to star an "ensemble cast of global and diverse characters".

Sure, there's a lot to discuss about the Call of Duty: WWII trailer. Activision and Sledgehammer Games also teased a social space called "Headquarters" which seems to be the Call of Duty version of Destiny's The Tower.

Call of Duty: World War II is the latest series "back to its roots" installment. Despite this information releasing early, today was the day when the official reveal was set to take place. It is also going to deliver some Nazi zombie action.

War: This narrative-driven mode brings a gripping new layer of excitement to Axis vs. Allies team play.
