York Region Police arrest more than 100 in child sex ring

York Regional Police said they had arrested more than 100 men after a multi-year investigation into a child sex trafficking operation

More than 100 men accused of purchasing prostituted children have been arrested after a multi-year investigation in York Region.

The men charged range in age from 18 to 71 years old, police said, adding that 19 men believed they were buying sex from a 13- or 14-year-old girl.

"There's no actual child victims in this project", Truong said.

They say the arrests were made following a multiyear operation by the force's Human Trafficking Team.

Det. Sgt. Thai Truong says most men stopped communicating when they heard the ages, but 104 men didn't stop.

Ms. Orlando heads a recently formed team of Crown prosecutors specializing in human trafficking crimes across Ontario.

When potential clients were told the "girls" were aged 13 to 16, most men dropped the matter, but 104 attempted to arrange meetings and were subsequently arrested.

Mourinho fears worst with Ibrahimovic, Rojo injuries
"We are in trouble", Mourinho told reporters at Old Trafford. "We lost Marcos Rojo, we don't have Jones, we don't have Smalling". Smalling, Jones and Rojo s injuries leave Bailly and Daley Blind as United s only fit senior centre-backs.

A total of 64 cases are before the courts, while 40 cases have been resolved.

Investigators say the average age of entry into the sex trade is about 15 years old.

"Almost all of these men are first time offenders ... they had stable jobs, and families and not the type of people who usually see in the criminal justice system", Susan Orlando, of the Attorney General's human trafficking prosecution team, said.

Police will also provide information on how the investigation was launched and ongoing efforts to combat child sex trafficking.

Police targeted men who searched for prostitutes online, but did not arrest men who were seeking sex with an adult. But even when the young women showed signs of bruising or other abuse, many refused to identify the aggressors.

"All of the people caught in the sting were prepared to pay money to have sex with children", she said.
