Man accused of stealing more than 100 cellphones at Coachella

Coachella thief caught by Find My iPhone app after stealing 100 phones at festival

Henao was found with a backpack loaded with the 130-or-so smartphones of all makes and models, but from the police photos it's clear that many of them were iPhones. But at least one man was caught with over 100 stolen phones within the venue.

USA authorities were able to arrest a thief who stole over a 100 smartphones at the Coachella Valley music festival taking place in Indio, California using one of the most overlooked feature available on many smartphones. In this Coachella case, the thief was naive enough not to turn off the phones and could be tracked easily. The group followed Henao until security could detain him, and he was eventually arrested by police.

"A bunch people activated their "find my phone" and pointed at, 'Hey, it's that guy, my phone, my dot, it's moving with that guy, '" said Indio police Sgt. Dan Marshall ...
