Jeep Grand Cherokee Reveals Its 707-Horsepower SUV
12 April 2017, 03:25 | Dawn Berry
The 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is an SUV That Runs 11-Second Quarter Miles
However now the company ha introduced yet another mid-sized SUV which will have a hellcat engine with a power of 707bhp.
On the outside, the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk will be coming in with a few changes like the air inlets inside of the fog lamps and a new black chrome quad exhaust tips in the back.
What we do now know though is that the Trackhawk's official specification list makes for eye-opening reading. A Jeep is expected to reach 116 miles per hour in 11.6 seconds, but Trackhawk is bound to defy all previous beliefs, flying with 180 miles per hour and no electric controller. When viewed in that light, the Jeep is indeed the quickest SUV while the Model X is the quickest crossover - not to mention one of the quickest product cars regardless of segment.
Either way, the Jeep is faster, with a claimed top speed of 290km/h (200mph), compared to the Tesla's governed 250km/h. The vehicle also comes with a strengthened rear drive shaft and a beefier front suspension with coil springs and control arms.
Jeep has taken the full-fat 527kW, 875Nm 6.2-litre supercharged Hemi V8 from the Dodge Hellcat models with its heavy-duty eight-speed auto, and hooked it up to an all-wheel drive drivetrain and stuffed it under a soccer mum friendly body.
In addition to its formidable horsepower, the Trackhawk also boasts 645 pound-feet of torque.
The Brembo brakes here are the largest standard front brakes ever offered on a Jeep.
The Selec-Track system uses performance-tuned software to pre-configure and distinguish the five dynamic modes - Auto, Sport, Track, Snow and Tow (capable of towing 7,200 pounds).
The standard vehicle gets a Nappa leather interior, while a Signature leather pack is also available which features "Trackhawk" embossed into the seat. Wider wheel flares, dual heat extractors in the hood and 20-inch titanium wheels further set the Trackhawk apart from the standard Grand Cherokees. And just to ensure there is no doubt, there are "Supercharged" badges on both front doors and a Trackhawk logo on the hatch.
The 2018 model is available in nine flavors: True Blue, Billet Silver, Granite Crystal, Diamond Black, Ivory Tri-coat, Bright White, Velvet Red, Rhino, and Redline 2.
"The new Grand Cherokee Trackhawk delivers astounding performance numbers. with luxury, refinement and an array of innovative advanced technology", said Mike Manley, head of Jeep Brand - FCA Global.
But it's not just a weapon in a straight line, as Jeep has beefed-up the rest of the Grand Cherokee's mechanical package to handle the extra grunt and improve its road holding.
Built in Detroit at the Jefferson North Assembly Plant, the new Grand Cherokee Trackhawk will arrive in U.S. showrooms in the fourth quarter of 2017.
